 b. In The New Testament

Galations 3:2-5  /  Hebrews 6:4-5

Bibical Christianity is marked by the presence of God's Spirit, and it should be more than a theological position about the Holy Spirit's place in the Trinity; it should be an experienced reality.

 

2- Practical Steps

"Because the Holy Spirit is active in speaking to his people, to his Church, and to the world he loves all around us, our jobs as Christions is to give the Holy Spirit permission to more in our lives and gatherings. This is the first step in learning to live in the Spirit (Gal. 5:16-25)" -Vineyard, USA "Come Holy Spirit- living our lives guided by God's presence"

a. Having seen the Biblical desription of the life in the Spirit, pray for the dyanamic of the Spirit to be reality

1 Corinthians 14:1

 

b. Begin to consciously and intentionally look for signs of the Spirit among us and bless them ('stir up the gift" -Timothy 1:6-7)

 

c. Act on the quiet promptings of the Holy Spirit, maintaining humility and a teachable attitude (under-promise and over-deliver, not the other way around).

-In order to see God’s vision and fulfill God’s mission for us, we must be People of the Presence

 Our vision: For people everywhere to know and worship God in all His glory and goodness.

 Our mission: To build growing communities of worshipers who are becoming like Christ, empowered to do His work.

 

-The Presence is the resource for the mission

 Matthew 28: 18-20 

 

1- People of the Presence

Being marked by God’s dynamic Presence has always been the biblical expectation for God’s people.

a. In the Old Testament

 Exodus 33:12-20

 The primary, foundational answer to all our questions and needs is not a “what” but a “who”,the personal presence of God Himself.

Already in the Exodus God had begun fulfilling His vision of the whole earth filled with the knowledge of God’s glory and goodness.

 

The Presence of God is equated with the Spirit of Yahweh (Isaiah 63:9-14, Psalm 139:7)

After a month of processing our sadness at our loss, our thankfulness of endless blessings experienced with the Jose Gutierrez family, and looking hopefully to new adventures, it's time to Send off Pastor Jose, Vicki and Rebecca as they leave for Idaho.
